The company was founded in 1953, in Utrecht, by Mr. Giebels as ‘Agentura Kabel Apparatuur’, specializing in cable handling solutions.
The company ws renamed to AKAPP Electron Industries, and located in Zeist and Soesterberg, reflecting its growing activities in cable handling, reeling and winding equipment.
AKAPP introduced its R3/5 conductor bar at the Hanover Messe. A surprising move, as we were still distributing Elmetac systems at the time.
The company relocated from its two sites in Zeist and Soesterberg to a single location in Renswoude, bringing both production and office operations together under one roof.
The introduction of the Multiconductor system expanded AKAPP’s portfolio with a reliable 7-pole solution, featuring a sealing channel for demanding environments.
As the business continued to grow, AKAPP relocated once again to accommodate its expanding operations.
AKAPP became part of Woodhead Industries, providing access to an international network and supporting further growth of the company.
AKAPP introduced the 4-Ductor and Pro-Ductor PR7 systems, including its first open conductor bar solution.
AKAPP introduced Click-Ductor, its connected-conductor solution for fast installation and easy expansion.
AKAPP became part of the Fandstan Electric Group, continuing its development within an international organization.
AKAPP celebrated its 50th anniversary, marking five decades of experience in cable handling and electrification solutions.
The Pro-Ductor PR10 was introduced, providing additional poles for power and control functions in heavy-duty machinery.
The introduction of the Pro-Ductor PR4 expanded the AKAPP portfolio with a compact conductor rail solution for space-constrained installations.
AKAPP became part of Wabtec Corporation, marking the next step in its international development.
AKAPP company relocated to new location in Ede, optemizing operations and providing room for future growth.
The merger of AKAPP and Mors-Smitt activities into Wabtec Netherlands B.V., in Ede, created centralized Wabtec operations in The Netherlands.
